Day 2: 22 April 2011 Narkanda to Hatu Peak

It was a Good Friday , I mean a national holiday. Just clarified it as for almost all professionals Friday is good as it is start of a weekend .
Now our task was to get a good accommodation cheap and cozy.
As we were not much interested in TV and hot water we preferred to select a low cost hotel.
Search mission started.
RJ and Devarsh started off in one direction ,me and Deepak started in other direction leaving rest of 3 by side of cab.
Then after a short span of time Ashwin also koined me and Deepak to search for some Nature Huts.
Nature huts are some camps where you have huts to stay in and cozy bedding to sleep in.
As we people are not lover of luxury we scanned some other options.
Finally RJ and Devarsh reached a hotel named Hotel Snow View .
It was on top of a hill and path leading to it was through the main market.
Other hotels in market were there viz. Maha maya, Hatu Peak and so on but quiet costly (approx 1200/- Rs. per room).
At Hotel Snow view we got 3 rooms at 250 Rs per room and 100Rs for an extra bedding which we rented for our cab driver.
This hotel had a good view of the mountains and snow clad peaks.
We ahd some rest and then decided to trek to Hatu peak.
Hatu peak is a peak about 8 km from Narkanda. It has motor able road but we preferred to walk .
Clicking snaps and enjoying the climate.
It took us about 2 hours to reach top.

Hatu Peak is a famous tourist spot in Narkanda.
A place of attraction as it gives a clean 380 view of  Himalyan tops.
Snow clad peaks,Green mountain tops and tall coniferous trees around.
A pleasant place to readh.
While trekking along the road created for cars and bikes we found that walking on such Tar roads is more difficult than walking on muddy or grassy surface.

Along the road side we could see tall  coniferous trees like Deodhar, pine and so on.
Cool breeze was blowing.
Rahul was busy getting his photos clicked by Devarsh.
Aswin was  walking slowly but steadily enjoying the climate.
Me, as usual a lover of music had some good english songsplaying in My Nokia N96  wallking along
the trek.

It is quite a simple trek compared to ones I had some time back.
When we reached top a fantabulous view of Himalyan peaks was visible.
A heavy wind was blowing. It was blowing as if  would  take us away  with it.
Temperature was about 10  defree Celsius and sun was between clouds.

It felt as if we were on top of the world and touching sky.
A couple  of benches were present for people to sit and chit chat.
After click manysnpas at this spot and adoring the beauty of nature we started our trek down .
Well missed a small thing ,there was a small temple of Goddess of Mountains whihc we visited and took blessings.

After some rest on this peak we started our journey back down towards our hotel rooms. We were some what tired and need some good sleep as we had not slept well last night as we were travelling.
Trek down was simpler  than trek up.
In mid way we continued our photography .

Some weird shaped rocks some weird shaped trees we found some really interesting things on our way down though we followed the same path up never noticed as ou mind was ocused to reach top as quickly as possible. These rocks were due to some natural soil erosion.Found soem ayurvedic herbs whihc are rarely found in plane regions.
A nice walk down and we reached  Hotel.
We were hungry and wanted some really good energitic fillers.
Tried to search for "palodas" in market could not get hot crispy ones so had to be satisfied with Tea nad Maggi.
All of us had one plate each whihc was sufficient to fulfil our stomaches.
Spot : Nepali Dhaba where we had this snacks.
It was about 6 pm in evening and we were waiting for sun to set and then we could move to our rooms and take rest in cozy beds.
Diner was planned in hotel the hotel curator was a good fellow .He got us some really home made food.
hot fresh rotis ,rice, dal and "mutter panner" sabji.
After eating a lot of these things we finally decided to aly down.

But had to plan our next day's activities.
A short disucssion wiht Hotel curator gave us an idea that we can explore a place named Jaroli Pass which was 100 Km from Narkanda or Saranhan 114 km from Narkanda and then return to Delhi.
As we had 2 days for thsi we were ready.
RJ who had done tremendous research on  places around  suggested to pick Jarorli as for Sarahan some Governemtn formalities and permissions are a must.
So we picked Jaroli Pass as a good spot.
Went thru some webpages whioch RJ had already downloaded in his LG Optimus phone.
Technology has really changed this world.
Using GPS whihc was enable din JP's phone and maps we discovered  that we can go to Jaroli Pass and furthr to Mani and then back to Delhi instead of coming back to Narkanda.
This would save tiem adn petrol of course as roads were supposed ot be good towards Mandi.

A final verdict was made " Chalo Jaroli"
